"Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things." 1 Corinthians 13:7
Roses are known to be a cultural symbol of love but more than that, they are one of the most resilient plants which is why I truly admire them. They are persistent and persevere in difficult circumstances reminding me much of "agape" (Greek translation for "love") spoken of in this chapter.
Genuine agape "bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things." While I'd love to mention the Greek for "bears", "hopes", "believes", and "endures" - I will say this, to love in this way is completely contrary to our flesh. It is impossible to produce this type of love in difficult circumstances in and of ourselves. The amazing thing is that a love like this is possible by God's great love and mercy. "We love because He first loved us" (1 John 4:19). God's love has been imparted to us by the Holy Spirit and resides within us by faith in Christ. It persists and perseveres, it never gives up. It keeps on bearing, keeps on believing, keeps on hoping and enduring through all things.
May this necklace be a reminder of the magnificent love you have received and how God has called you farther and deeper into love with Him and others.
